Bio

Larissa Felix Brum is a Brazilian visual artist currently based in New York, where she works from her studio and is enrolled in the MFA program at the School of Visual Arts.

Before professionalizing her artistic practice, she earned a degree in psychology and worked as a hospital psychologist during the pandemic. Her background in dance, combined with her knowledge of psychology, has helped integrate and structure her ideas around the body as both a medium and a field of investigation.

Through a gestural and exploratory approach, she works primarily with painting, drawing, and sculpture. In her process, she seeks to challenge the boundaries of figuration, creating images that repeat, dissolve, and overlap.

Conceptually, her research expands through an interest in investigating and connecting systems, languages, and non-human forms of life within her process. This approach has also brought her practice closer to a posthumanist perspective, serving as a guiding ethical principle in relation to contemporary discussions and contexts in art, society, and the global ecosystem.
