Lazuli Studio

The Lazuli Studio is my base in Brazil, a space that welcomes my artistic experiments. A true laboratory where I conduct experiments, transforming and moving my anxieties and desires into lines, scribbles, stains.

This name refers to the lapis lazuli stone, prized by the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, Greece and Rome. It was transported along routes that crossed continents for millennia and the first ultramarine blue pigment was extracted from it during the Renaissance.

The blue color produced from its pigment was so rare and valuable that it was reserved for the most important works by Renaissance masters.

Larissa Brum

When I was very little, my art teacher Sandra told me this story and I thought the name “Lazuli” was so beautiful that I gave this name to my imaginary unicorn. The imaginary worlds, creatures and stories that I created as a child paved the way for the artistic creations and experiments that I dedicate myself to professionally today.

These connections and affections, as valuable to me as the blue discovered from the lapis lazuli stone, come to life and are free to become as many other things as are possible to be imagined, transformed, danced and scribbled, at Ateliê Lazuli.
